Recently, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi attended the handover ceremony of the Cambodian National Stadium. The Cambodian National Stadium, which was built with the aid of the Chinese government and designed by China IPPR affiliated to CAMCE, was officially handed over to Cambodia in Phnom Penh, after four years of construction. This cooperation added a new monument to China-Cambodia friendship.

The China-aided Cambodia National Stadium is located in the northern suburbs of Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia. The construction area of the project is 82,400 square meters, with a total area of 1.62 hectare of the structure. The stadium can accommodate 60000 spectators and will be the main venue for Cambodia to host the 2023 Southeast Asian Games and other international sports events. The venues fill in the gaps in large-scale modern stadium buildings in Cambodia and advance the development of local sports, culture, education and other fields.

As a project supported by the Chinese government for free, the Cambodia National Stadium not only witnessed the long-standing friendly relations between China and Cambodia, but also played a positive role in further deepening the cooperation between China and Cambodia on the “Belt and Road” initiative.
