On December 26, 2019, the 18.9 km-long Yan Oya left bank main canal undertaken by CAMCE received officially taking over certificate from the project owner, Irrigation Department of Nepal, which marked the beginning of the one-year guarantee period.

Yan Oya Left Bank Main Canal Project in Sri Lanka was officially launched in July 2018 and completed on October 28, 2019, 9 months ahead of the contract period. The main project scope is a 18.9 km-long main canal, including a 5-kilometre inverted siphon structure section, a 1.8 kilometer box-culvert structure section, and an open canal and other ancillary structures. The inverted siphon section is currently the longest concrete inverted siphon structure in Sri Lanka. The design and construction of the project adopts Chinese standards, which provides valuable practical experience for Chinese standards to go global.

The construction of the project will provide irrigation water for 6,500 hectares of farmland on the left bank of Yan Oya Reservoir to increase production and income benefiting local residents, and ensure the early realization of the overall planning of the Yan Oya Reservoir Agricultural Irrigation Project. The construction progress of the project is ahead of schedule and the quality is excellent, which demonstrates the strong strength of CAMCE in the field of water conservancy, the ability to manage large-scale projects, and the ability to deal with complex environments. The Sri Lanka government and public speak highly of the project, which lays a solid foundation for CAMCE further development in Sri Lanka.

Previously, the Sri Lanka Daily News reported on the completion of the project.
