Besides the capital and people sent to the disaster areas, some huge buildings built by China provide strong support for the relief efforts. In the severely afflicted area of Portoviejo city, capital of Manabi Province, the strong shock caused many houses collapse or dangerous houses, while a white 3-story building is standing there and becomes the home for the homeless, which is the 911 Safety Emergency Command Center built by a Chinese enterprise. Now, it is the temporary command center and press release center for the earthquake relief work. On the night of 17th, Ecuador President Correa made his first post-quake televised speech here. There are seven 911 Safety Emergency Command Centers built by this Chinese enterprise in total in Ecuador, among which four of them are located in the seismic region and no structural damage were found in theses four centers. In Portoviejo city, one unfinished hospital built by this Chinese enterprise withstood the test of this strong shock and stayed there safe and sound.
All these buildings, including temporary command center of the relief efforts, press release center, 911 safety emergency command center and the hospital under construction of Portoviejo city, were built by CAMCE. All the seven 911 safety emergency command centers in Ecuador were built by CAMCE. The projects undertaken by CAMCE withstood the 7.8 magnitude earthquake and continue to provide strong support for the relief efforts, which was well received by the local governments and mainstream media of Ecuador.
