May 18, Xinhua Silk Road, the official information platform for China’s Belt and Road Initiative, published a report titled "Chinese Medical Team Visited Newly Built Guyana Regional Hospital Constructed by Chinese Company," covering the inspection tour of China’s 20th Medical Aid Team to Guyana at the Diamond Regional Hospital, a project constructed by CAMCE.

In July 2022, CAMCE signed the Guyana Regional Hospitals Project, which involves the construction of six hospitals across five regions in Guyana. This project, designed by China IPPR (a CAMCE subsidiary) and built by CAMCE, represents Guyana’s largest-ever modern comprehensive healthcare infrastructure project. The Diamond Regional Hospital, visited by the medical team, is the first of the six hospitals nearing completion and handover.

Caracas, May 18 (Xinhua Silk Road – Reporter Tian Rui) – Georgetown News: On the afternoon of May 15 (local time), the 20th Chinese Medical Aid Team to Guyana visited the newly constructed Diamond Regional Hospital built by CAMCE. The inspection aimed to evaluate the achievements of Chinese enterprises in local healthcare infrastructure and to lay the groundwork for future medical outreach programs and deeper collaboration with Guyana’s healthcare sector.

Guided by the project team, the medical delegation toured key departments including emergency clinics, inpatient wards, operating rooms, maternity suites, imaging centers, and pathology labs. At each facility, the team meticulously reviewed the hospital’s layout, equipment, and digital systems, exchanging insights with on-site staff and offering expert recommendations for operational optimization.

The Diamond Regional Hospital is the first facility completed under CAMCE’s partnership with Guyana’s Ministry of Health. With a 75-bed capacity and a 6,075-square-meter footprint, the hospital is equipped with advanced Chinese-made medical devices, including CT scanners and digital X-ray systems. Designed and constructed to Chinese standards, the hospital is currently undergoing equipment calibration and staff training, with full handover scheduled by late May.
