On 13th, July 2016, a large area of Belarus suffered rainstorm attack, damaging many residential housings, industrial buildings and agricultural buildings. Minsk Oblast is severely affected with many fallen trees, collapsed water towers, damaged power stations. A number of aircrafts in Minsk international airport are damaged and China-Belarus Industrial Park implemented by CAMCE is affected as well. CAMCE responded in the first time by providing Belarus its own construction machinery to clear out roads, collapsed houses and trees, and making donation to the disaster area and its victims.
On 18th, July, entrusted by SINOMACH Chairman Ren Hongbin and CAMCE Chairman Luo Yan, Li Jinwei, Chief Representative of CAMCE to Belarus, headed for Minsk Oblast Government to submit Consolation Letter from Chairman Ren and Chairman Luo to Governor Shapiro. SINOMACH and CAMCE donated $100,000 and $50,000 to Minsk Oblast Government respectively to support Belarus rebuilding efforts.
CAMCE representatives attended Rescue and Relief Efforts Meeting held by Minsk State Government and learnt more about its damage and reconstruction situation. In the meeting, Governor Shapiro highly commended Chairman Ren and Chairman Luo’s kindness, and expressed his sincere appreciation to SINOMACH and CAMCE for their concerns of Belarus people and the importance they attached to China-Belarus friendship.
After the meeting, Belarus mainstream media including Belarus CCTV Channel 1, Capital TV and International TV interviewed CAMCE representatives and reported its donation. In the interview, Li Jinwei, Chief Representative of CAMCE to Belarus, conveyed the concerns and condolences from leaders of SINOMACH and CAMCE, and said “besides financial aid, we are willing to provide our own construction machinery to make due contribution to the rebuilding efforts.”
Disaster has no feelings but people with feelings. By offering financial aid, SINOMACH and CAMCE make their due contributions to the local disaster relief efforts, practice their social responsibilities as state-owned enterprises, and make China-Belarus friendship more solid.
Su Li, the first Deputy Chief Representative of Belarus; Bai Xiujun, Project Manager of China-Belarus Industrial Park; Tan Hao, Commercial Manager of China-Belarus Industrial Park and Liu Le from No.9 Engineering Department of CAMCE attended the above activities.
